Life is Beautiful

Image
The " Life is Beautiful" film was a very phenomenal film. It was very touching and very funny. Some connections I have had with the film and some recent pieces of literature I have read in class were that both of them took place in the time of World War 2. They both talked about German's being the superior race, Jewish people were not accepted in society, and there was a lot of killing and families being partied. Some differences they had wad the message of each piece was different. In the film it was more about a personal story and how a family fought for survival when they were put into the concentration camps, but for the literature it was more broad and it talked about all the events in the Holocaust not just a single realistic part of it.  The mood of both pieces were similar because they are both very sad stories about the Holocaust and all the survivors stories are very sad too. The different modes between the two pieces are the story was more humorous b

A Slice of My Life

Image
A big event that is happening in my life right now. ( Technically, soon gonna happen.) Is my favorite prima is going to be getting married. She is like an older sister to me, she is easy to relate to, she is funny, and crazy. Now, to see her getting married is very important to me because I know this man that is going to be in her life for a great amount of years and he is going to treat her right. She wanted me to stand up in her wedding but my parents told me no because if I were to I would have to stand up in the wedding it would have been with a 17 year-old boy! I was kind of shocked because I would have not even known the boy and it would have been extreamly awkward! Other than that I am really excited for this wedding it is going to be in a few months and everything is going the way she wants it to be. I know for a fact the wedding is going to be phenomenal and absolutely beautiful. I just would like to wish my counsin the best of wishes and may her years with my furture cousin-

On a Sunny Evening

Image
On A Sunny Evening  On a purple sun-shot evening Under wide-flowering chestnut trees Upon the threshold full of dust Yesterday, today, the days are all like these. Trees flower forth in beauty, Lovely, too, their very wood all gnarled and old Into their crowns of green and gold. The sun has made a veil of gold So lovely that my body aches. Above, the heavens shriek with blue Convinced Ive smiled by some mistake. The world's abloom and seem to smile. I want to fly but where, how high? If in bared wire, things can bloom Why couldn't I? I will not die! 1994 Anonymous  Written by the children in Barracks L318 and L417 Age: 10-16 years

Hitler/Nazi Propaganda

Image
A propaganda poster I chose was a poster that translates to " Work as hard for victory as we fight". The poster was issued around May 1942. This piece of propaganda is trying to say that the women should work hard at home while the men fight for victory, meaning that the women should be doing more than just being like a housekeeper.  The intended audience for this poster were women. I believe it was trying to portray that women should work hard for their country at home while the men fight hard for their country away. It alters peoples perspective by showing them if the men of our country are fighting for us, the least we could do is working hard for our country to keep it up and running. This poster was effective because the people in Germany kept the country from falling by everybody doing their individual duties. This piece of propaganda is related to another piece of known as "Rosie the Riveter". That poster encouraged women to do and be more than just a house

All American Boys- Brendon Kiely & Jason Reynolds

Image
All American Boys is a book basically based of today's society. It talks about police brutality, racism, and people who follow other people. It needs a strong audience due to the bad language and the descriptive events. All American Boys is about a African American boy named Rashad and he was abused by a white cop for a crime he did not commit. There was a witness his name is Quince but the thing is he is white. And he feels as if he defends Rashad he will be betraying his best friends' brother who was the cop. Throughout the book he tries to figure out whose side he on Rashad who expirenced police brutality and racism. Or his best friends' brother who was in the wrong for beating someone based off of race.  Ms.Belkov recommended this book to me. I am actually very thankful that she did because it was such a phenomenal book.

Something I Regret.......

Image
I usually do not regret things, but some thing I do regret is not standing up for myself. I stand up for others but not for myself. Usually when I am blamed for something I try to fight back but then I give up. I feel like I'm going to cause more problems and make matters worse. Now, I can stand up for myself. This has happened to me multiple times, but I am going to talk about a specfic time.  There was a time once that I was acused for something I did not do. The teacher was acussing me of throwing a piece of paper across the room because I was the person sitting next to the person who did it. The teacher called my parents and told multiple teachers of the incident. And during the day she pulled me from one of my other classes and tried to talk to me about the incident. She asked me why I did it and it was very disrespectful. I tried to explain that I wasn't the person who did it, but it was clear that she could not comprehend  what I was saying. Then she accused me of l
