Character Analysis From "The Outsiders"~ SodaPop Curtis
SodaPop Curtis is the second eldest brother out of the Curtis brothers. He is movie-star handsome and is very sweet. Soda is a high school drop out and he is not proud of it. He works at the DX gas station so he can make a living for his other brothers. SodaPop is a very optimistic person he is always smiling or joking around. He is really not good at disciplining his brother PonyBoy like the eldest brother Darry is. SodaPop really does not take life serious he lives for the moment but he is serious when it comes to important situations. SodaPop Curtis changed throughout the book by acting more of his age and controlling over his brother PonyBoy because he does not want his brothers life to be endangered ever again. I like everything about SodaPop but some key things I like about him are, his personality and his perspective on life. He is so happy go-lucky, he likes to make a game out of everything, and I think It's very important to surround yourself with people like him.
One poem I found that reminds me of SodaPop is call "The Smile" By: Unknown.
The Smile
I had an extra smile
When I left the house today
I thought I'd give it to someone
I passed along the way.
I tried to give the smile away
But incredibly
Each time I gave it to someone
They'd give it back to me.
So now I have a bunch of smiles,
What am I to do?
I think I'll keep a couple
And then give the rest to you.
This poem reminded me of SodaPop because he is always smiling and is always optimistic about everything. If he is move star handsome he must have a movie star smile.
