Where I'm From Poem

Where I’m From Poem

By: Laysa Castellanos

I am from home-cooked Caribbean food being cooked almost everyday, the
smell of frying plantains in the morning.
I'm from scrapes and bruises us kids receive because we are so reckless outside.
I am from the “Turn right at the big AutoZone sign” on Wesley Ave.

I'm from big smiles and welcoming hearts,
From Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
I am from the loud mouths and
crazy personalities.
I am from “You're talking too loud!” and from “What did you say! Speak up!”

I am from the strongest people I know. And the most supportive people I know.
I am from people who take respect and loyalty very serious.
And most of all, I am blessed to have the family I have.
Therefore, I am from my family which I perfectly fit into without a
doubt.
