The Voices Unheard
"Mum wouldn’t even notice whether I had or hadn’t gone to school as she was always upstairs smashed out of her face. I wanted to go to school as I didn’t want a life like my parents. I could pretend that whilst I was there that everything was fine at home. No-one there knew what was happening at home until the house was raided.¨ "One of the worst experiences was when mum got arrested and so I turned up to the house to find the doors and the windows boarded up." This is what Sophie said, she was a victim that went through child neglect. She was born into a family that sold and did drugs. She was exposed to so many things kids are not suppose to be exposed to at such a young age. She was starved, not educated, and barely had any clothing. There are more kids out there like Sophie out in the world, others in very worse predicaments.
"14% of all men in prison and 36% of women in prison in the USA were abused as children, about twice the frequency seen in the general population." Scientist have said. "Children who experience child abuse & neglect are about 9 times more likely to become involved in criminal activity." What is revealed here is that most children who were abused are most likely are going to be criminals. This evidence proves that neglect can cause aggression and unacceptable behavior from these children. Therefore, it is taken out on others.
"Reduced brain volume in parts of the hippocampus could help to explain why childhood problems often lead to later psychiatric disorders, such as depression, drug addiction and other mental health problems, "the researchers Martin Teicher says. "This link could help researchers find better ways to treat survivors of childhood abuse." This evidence illustrates that children who are exposed to maltreatment tend to grow up with brain issues. Such as depression, substance abuse, and or other health issues.
In the mind of a neglected child, they are vulnerable and weak. They are scared of their parents, and they do not know what to do. Their voices are not heard. Their lives are put on mute. We need to be there to be their advocates and speak the golden words to set them free from all of their stress, vulnerability, from their caregivers. They are to shine in their all most special ways, they do not notice how strong they really are to be put in those positions. Therefore, we are here to spread the message to let everyone know that there is a little soldiers in those vulnerable children. And they can be saved if we spread the message. Maybe you can save a child today if you simply spread the message too.
